Super Mairo 64 DS brings us back to when Nintendo was still ruling the V.G. market. The original was one of the best adventure games of all time. Does this game live up to the original? Yes and No.
Let's visit the Yes's. First it has all the original levels and missions. Two it has secret levels witch means it has extra stars for people who can rap the original like no ones bizz. Three there are three extra charters Yoshi, Luigi and Wario witch are worked in to some of the missions. Like the original it has LOTS of play time 150+ stars. And finally five this game has mini games. I know most of you are probably saying. "But what ever your name is, they will be cheap little things where you run around and collect stars." But no random person who is reading this. They are fun you will play them over and over again. All use the touch screen. And there are 50+ of them. THEY WILL KEEP THE GAME INTERESTING. On the same note the multiplayer is exactly like what I said up there, running around collecting stars. But it does use DS Download play (one cartridge multiplayer). And as you know something is always better than nothing (wink wink Chronicles of Ridick).
Now the No's. There is only one thing wrong with SM64DS unfortunately it is the one of the BIGGEST thing that could go wrong with a game. THE CONTROLS. With the absence of an analog stick it is much too hard especially when most of the game is touchy platforming. And when you finally do get the hang of it and you are walking on a balance beam the camera move and you plunge into the bottomless pit. The best way to go is to use the touch control. But you have to learn how to use it.
Overall if you balance it out it is a very good launch title you will be playing for months. Hey, does it really matter if you have to learn touch controls. I would rent it and if u like it BUY IT.
