Pariah is a mixed bag of hit tipping from Halo and going where Halo should of gone.  Yet in an essence it doesn't forfill the enjoyment of the Halo storyline although the weaponary on Pariah to my taste is far better.  There is no doubt about Pariah that from the off there is some absolutely wonderful textures with realistic water, plantation and rock forms.  Of course when you add this together with other elements it luckily pulls through.  For me, although I haven't the right to comment on all aspects of the game (because I have only played the demo) there are some wonderful elements in the game which I found visually astounding and a good representation of where Halo could have gone.  The level maps for me are although more linear and a lack of exploration are more polished visually aswell as the chance to shoot enemies from tall heights, destruct constructions and also kick barrells of explosives and shoot them on an unsuspecting opponent.  The health injection tool is also a nice touch along with the weapon upgrade patches much similar but simpler to Deux Ex.

During the gameplay I noticed the artificial intelligence is not amazing but good enough for a frag fest and some characters run to charge you down or hide behind objects which is allot more than can be said about a game we all ranted about in 1997 Goldeneye.  The intensity of gore does not spoil the game as it is very infrequent but when blood is spilt it is a satisfying experience especially using weaponary such as the grenade launchers and seeing environment change in a more natural way than to Red Faction 2.  Pariah is better than Doom 3, take my word for it, it may not be as scary but it is a darn sight better for G-FORCE cards and user friendly with Laptops.  It is also faster and there isn't any problems with frame rates.

During the set up of the gameplay Pariah has a awkward control set up on the mouse keys so by switching between mouse and a gamepad you can infact set yourself up into a killing machine, using a USB gamepad for LRFB direction and the mouse for turning and observing aswell as firing creates a merciless killing machine.  The control sensitivity on the game needs to be tweaked although this can be altered in the options menu.  As for the storyline I cannot really comment but the quake trilogy never really had a storyline, so why do we all of a sudden need one to have a fragging good time?

However, Pariah is no Half Life 2 but makes a conserted effort into the ever changing market of the first person shooter.  7.5/10
