A truly immersive game. While not as exceptional as the first, this game still far exceeds the story lines found in Episodes 1 and 2. The ending is a bit anti-climactic (perhaps rushed to market?), especially compared to the bomshell of KOTOR 1, but buildup and character development still make it worthwhile.
The expansion on gameplay such as skills, powers, upgrades and character influences make this a must have for RPGers. More force powers, more skills (with some pointless ones removed), and much more upgrades allow the player to take their character in new directions. Even the mini games (pazaak and swoop racing) have been augmented in the sequel.
The coolest/hardest/most frustrating thing about this game is the influence factor. Your actions/conversations adjust the alignment of your team members. If you're good at it you can bring them all to your side and even turn them into jedi/sith. Choose poorly and you alienate them, then they can become uncooperative (at least in dialogue, they'll still kill anything you tell them to).
I can only hope they will take their time with KOTOR III and make it the highlight of the triology.
