Bioware's Jade Empire is an action/rpg that takes place in ancient China.
You control a martial arts prodidgy who sets out on a quest for revenge when his home is attacked by an evil force. The type of character you control is entirely up to you. Classes are broken up into magic, strong, fast, and balanced. Throughout the quest you obtain different fighting styles that can be mapped to the d-pad for quick changes. These styles can be weapon based, magic based, or it can be a support or transformation skill. Weapon skills consume focus from your focus bar in the corner of the screen. When your focus runs out you can no longer use a style that consumes focus. Magic styles consumes your chi. These styles can be upgraded upon leveling up which can increase the damage dealt, amount of chi/focus used, or speed of attack. Your basic strength, defense, etc... can also be upgraded.
Combat is fairly slow and boring due to the fact that you move at a crawl when locked onto an enemy. Frequent camera issues makes it difficult to locate foes and the block move is often unresponsive. Dialogue is spoken outloud throughout the game. Only your character remains mute which can be a little annoying at times. The game is also pretty short and easy but has a ton of replay value tdo to the fact that you can play through the game and take an entirely different path to reach the end.
Jade Empire has its faults but overall it is a solid game that is alot of fun.
