From the creators of Ico.Shadow of the Collosus is, in many ways, a real sleeper hit. It offers very fun gameplay, very impressive graphics, and a story to keep you going until the end. Still, if you you've never played Ico you may find yourself lost. Many average gamers won't find this game very fun to play. For how short it is.
The story is actually quite simple. You are a man named Wander, who is seeking to revive a young women, for who knows why, and it turns out the only way you can revive her is by defeating 16 collosi. Immedietly you and your trusty steed, Agro, go out and search for these Collosi in a vast, pretty environment. Finding these Collosi are pretty easy, just hold out your sword into the light and it will show you the way.
Once you find your first Collosi, you'll, of course, have to take that big, ugly creep down. What do you do? Well, you'll first have to find a "weak spot." once you do, it's all climbing up on top of that big guy to find his other "weak spot." Once you've taken out all the weak spots you'll be treated to a cutscene of the big guy falling down. Simple, right? Well, some times, taking out the Collosi is no easy task. Sometimes it could take you hours to find his "weak spot." For they are cleverly hidden for some Collosi. This is actually what makes the game fun, and leaving you ready for the next big guy to face you.
The game has some pretty graphics. This comes at a price, though, sometimes it can look choppy from a certain distance, sometimes places take some time to load, and could pause the game for a few seconds. This also leads to some pretty choppy framerate here and there, usually when the action starts to heat up, but who cares? It's still very fun to look at, and just explore the world, climb things and other junk when you're bored of killing Collosi over and over again.
The reason why some gamers won't like this game, is that there are no enemies, towns, or anything. Just you and your steed, Agro, and the 16 Collosi spread throughout the land. This can become boring for some average gamers, and it takes the most patient gamer to play the entire game, and still enjoy it.
Overall, Shadow of the Collosus is fun too look at just for the hell of it, has very fun bosses to beat. Although it prolly won't suck in the average gamer, it is still worth it for one to rent it, and try it. It is still a game you must not miss. Just go into the game being very forgiving.
