I have to admit that I was really looking forward to this game, the Xbox has not had the best history with wrestling games and i was hoping that this was the one to change it because I was very naive and thought since it was called "Wrestlemania 21" instead of "Raw 3" that it would be something different and a step forward for wrestling games on all consoles... well the graphics are good!?. Lets start with the good points, the graphics are possibily the best to appear in any wrestling game to date, very detailed and decent cutscenes. Now lets move on to some of the bad points, not them all because frankly it makes my head sore thinking about how bad this game is. The first thing you notice before you even start a match is that on the main menu the career option is blanked out, after a while trying to figure out why I discovered that it is not possible to go through career mode with a real wrestler you have to make your own, Huh interesting twist (or soI thought at the time) So i head towards the create a wrestler(CAW)mode to find the strange exclusion of the female in the mode. ALthough i was not planning on going through career mode as a woman it would be nice to have the option. Well to cut to the chase the CAW mode is apalling, the clothing option are rubbish and the moves list is the practically non-existent although you can purchase more moves at a later stage but this still leaves you with even basic moves not include, for example when on the turnbuckle and opponent is standing most wrestling games give you a wide variety of drop kicks, clotheslines and some other fancy stuff, not here! you have an axe handle and flying dropkick to choose from!. Moving on the career mode itself is totally linear with about 50 matches (all of which you have to win) and a decent storyline which never changes no matter how many times you play it, even your opponents are always the same.
There are so many faults with this game that the publisher should have just repackaged "Raw 2" in a fancy new box and sold it instead of this. Raw 2 was also an extremely disappointing game but is infinitely superior to this attempt to challenge the Smackdown series on the playstaion which fails miserably. The faults listed don't even cover the gameplay itself which is so slow that at times I thought my xbox had frozen, and not even on online mode which i have yet to try and don't intend to as I don't think you should play it with others, I don't even think you should mention you have played the game to others and just dispose of it safely in your rubbish bin.
