Once again, Nintendo has produced another great game in the Mario Kart series. MKDS plays a lot like the N64 classic, with some new things, such as the power slide from Double Dash and a few new items, as well as a few new characters and a bunch of new karts. In Grand Prix mode, it has the usual four cups; The Mushroom, Flower, Star, and Special cups. New to this game, there is also a new set of four cups, which include various races from the previous Mario Kart games. MKDS also introduces Mission Mode, where you have different objectives to fill. It also returns the Vs and Battle modes, as well as Time Trial.
The most notable new addition in MKDS is, of course, Wi-Fi capability, which lets you play against opponents anywhere in the world. Though it isn't a perfect system, it is still a lot of fun, and it adds a tremendous amount of replay value to the game.
Gameplay- 10/10
What can I say? This game is absolutely brilliant. It takes the N64 game and makes it better.
Replay Value- 9.7/10
Wi-Fi makes for almost infinite replay value, but the single player mode wears out after a while.
Sound- 9/10
MKDS has a nice, mostly happy soundtrack. The music works very well with the general mood of the game.
Graphics- 8/10
The graphics are almost identical to the N64 game, so nothing spectacular here.
Overall- 10/10
This game is just about as good as it gets. I haven't played anything this good in months.
