note: i knew this game wouldnt possibly reach the quality of original Ufo Enemy Unknown where it got the inspiration, so i was prepared to review it like any other new game, though i actually had hopes for quality game, since if i remember correctly the creators Altar have made a very good game in past named Original War (could have been other team though)
all comparisons to original Ufo Enemy Unknown (known as X-Com Ufo Defense in u.s.) are warranted.

this game sucks major ass and fails miserably to recapture the spirit of game by which its inspired.
ten year old game which this one tries so poorly imitate is way more fun even today.
they removed everything which made the original Ufo Enemy Unknown fun.
you cannot enter buildings, you cannot even destroy them to reveal hidden aliens or gain advantage, no blowing up buildings/walls/ceilings/floors to have easier access or take surprise shots at aliens.  all in all the battlefield is not destructable, no collateral damage, you cannot occupy rooftops or upper floors for tactical advantage, basically no 3rd dimension which is kinda funny given the fact that graphics engine is 3d while Ufo Enemy Unknown had 2d isometric engine and yet captured 3rd dimension much better.

what was cool with original was its retro feel with all the cool weapon and aircraft design - this game has none of that, obviously the designers played way too much counter-strike and thought counter-strike -vs- aliens is what Ufo should look like - hence the "realistic" uzis, etc.  yuck, bleh :(

another let down is no economic model, money management/funding
you cannot select your starting base, you cannot even really build/manage/design your base, missions are beyond suck level, so are the alien ship designs.
you can have only a pathetic selection of 7 soldiers in your squad.

graphics are subpar, low quality texturing, poor models and model designs, laughable 3d effects, resolution is for unknown reason (lack of programming skill?) fixed at 1024x768, and though there is camera rotation, you cannot zoom which is probably blessing given the fact models are beyond ugly
geosphere didnt reach todays potential, its pretty much the same as original, except it uses some low quality texture which you cannot really zoom-in that far as you could in original Ufo
music is good, at least for the time i played the game, who knows how good it would sound after a month or two of playing
the game is way too simple (probably because people are dumber and dumber every year :)), you have very little control over it - smells like a console game

hard to believe how a game clearly inspired by Ufo Enemy Unknown can fail so completely at capturing what made the original so great.

if you never played the original (noob :)) you might think this game is original or good, which is neither of course.

warning: if you're a fan of Ufo/X-Com series and have great expectations from this game - stay away, you've been warned :)
(and rather wait for Xenocide or Earth Defense Force)
