Wow, where to start on this game?!
I really wanted to like it, and at times I did. Sadly, those times were overshadowed by the massive flaws in this game.
Some good points:
-Really funny in a strange and offbeat way.
-Not the typical RPG storyline, there is some really innovative stuff in the plot.
But:
-The battle system in this game is totally broken down and crappy. I haven't hated fighting battles so much since I rented Ephemeral Fantasia. The recharging battle bar idea must have seemed like a good idea to someone, maybe after a few drinks, but in the harsh light of daylight just sucks.
-The boss fights are no better than the incidental battles, and really no harder or more interesting.
-The Cyphertext "puzzles" are either incomprehensible or so easy it's ridiculous. And either way, it doesn't matter, because if you talk to everyone, eventually you get them all whether you solve the lame puzzles or not. Yippee.
-Load time is abyssmal. Why you should have to wait so long for a PS2 title to load is beyond me, especially because it's not like there's anything real impressive going on graphics wise.
-The music is irritating.
Generally, this game had some promise, but poor design and execution ruined what could have been a really fun, different and amusing RPG. If you must experience this pile for yourself, do yourself a favor and rent it, or better yet, don't.
