My first game for the Playstation 2 home entertainment system, Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal, was a phenomenal masterpiece worthy of anyone's twenty/thirty dollars. Why? Read on.
Within the first few hours of the game I was enthralled. The visuals were great and the soundtrack fit into the scene. It was perhaps one of the greatest things Insomniac Games has ever developed.
The Story: Ratchet, a rocket mechanic, and Clank, his friend, are playing some game when Clank's show, Secret Agent Clank goes on. Ratchet is displeased by the show and changes the station to see his home planet being attacked. From there on, you learn more about what's really going on. While the story is short, the weapon upgrades make the story worth replaying.
The value of the game has doubled with a multiplayer mode. This mode has three different kinds of play: Siege, Capture the Flag and Deathmatch. Siege is basically two teams trying to break each other's base core. It's really the only mode worth playing. Deathmatch is cut-and-pasted, where you grab weapons, drive vehicles and try to destroy your foe. Capture the Flag is when you...capture the opposing teams flag. Also, the multiplayer mode has no computer opponents, although it lets you play by yourself. Meaning, setting up a deathmatch with one person only has one person. It isn't exactly exciting.
Overall, Ratchet and Clank 3 is a solid game. Anyone with thirty dollars will want to pick this game up. It's possibly the best investment for gaming out there.
