Majora's Mask was released in the wake of Ocarina of Time...which meant that it had a heap to live up to (namely the greatest game of all time). Yet it succeeded and in my opinion was the greatest of all the Zelda games. Why? Read on to find out...
What makes MM stand out from the Zelda series is it's atmosphere and emotion. From its music to its story everything has a depressing vibe about it. Getting the various transformation masks aren't a triumph or exciting moment like getting say a boomerang or what not. Instead they are sad reflecting moments. With the music and blur effect it makes you indeed mourn for the Goron and Zora deaths. One moment when you reunite a seperated couple when the apolycapse is about to occur is also a very touching event.
Graphics, gameplay and sound are all wonderful with new features and updates to an already great game. It's art design far surpasses OoT as seen when you reach the moon, I was expecting to get some sort of twisted dark castle...instead there was a lone tree with children dancing around it. Very interesting indeed.
Apart from a lackluster frame rate this is one of the greatest games I have ever played, it truly is a unique experience like no other.
