Advance Wars is a turn based strategy that is specifi….. wait come back. Ohhhh, bum. For those of you still reading after the words "turn based strategy" were mentioned, this is specifically for the Gameboy Advance. And all the other Games machines are seriously missing out. This game is extremely good.
It does not take long to get into the game itself and you will soon be completing the early missions. However, it will take you ages to master the strategies required to beat the later levels.
There is a fine line between winning and losing. If you don't plan a few moves ahead you will struggle. But, do you spend all your money earned on several smaller units or wait a couple of turns and buy that super-duper-whizz-bang rocket launcher or battleship. By then though the enemy could have wiped out your forces and taken over some of your buildings. One incorrect decision and the entire battle can be lost… unless you are lucky enough to have one of your super powers ready to use. Each character has their own power and these have varying effects such as decreasing / increasing movement, damaging enemies, repairing your own units and improving your attack or defence statistics.
The whole thing is well displayed as well with clear, colourful graphics, which have decent enough sounds to accompany them.
Excellent.
