Hooray! At last! A decent Tomb Raider game. After a couple of dismal appearances Lara is back on form. TR-L is not perfect but it is certainly in the same league as Tomb Raider's 1, 2 and 3.
For a start the whole game looks and sounds fantastic, (yes, Lara does look even better than ever). The scenery, environments, lighting and sound effects all go together to make an atmospheric setting. The surroundings feel huge with towering cliffs, enormous statues and skyscraper buildings dwarfing our little Lara. And, for those that are interested, Lara wanders around in a range of outfits that make her look as hot as ever, including a torn dress with fancy knickers on display.
But puzzles and action are what Tomb Raider games are about isn't it? Not scantily clad heroine's leaping around looking sexy. Isn't it? Well, for some of us it is anyway. And the puzzles and action are there… just not to the level of difficulty of previous TR games. It shouldn't take long for TR veterans to complete the game, and even newcomers might not find it too difficult. Once completed though you can always go back through the levels in an attempt to find all the hidden bonuses. Some of these are very difficult to find and certainly add to the longevity of the game.
There's not really anything revolutionary in this game but its Tom Raider and fans of the series will like it.
