Yet another WWII shooter! But wait just a minute. This one's different. It's not just another first person shooter. It's also a highly strategical, thought needed, command-your-squad-of-soldiers-what-to-do shooter. And it makes for an extremely enjoyable game at that.
If you can, try to imagine a game which is a cross between Full Spectrum Warrior and Call of Duty. What you end up with is Brother in Arms. It has the strategical element of commanding other squad members of Full Spectrum Warrior, along with the WWII first person shooter element of Call of Duty. It also has the tension and excitement of either of the two, which incidentally are my two favourite war-based shooters so far.
Now some shooters have tried to include a certain amount of strategical necessity but they haven't really got it quite right yet in my opinion. BIA however, has hit the nail right on the head with you needing to use full concentration in order to complete missions. If your team gets killed there is not much chance of winning. And in order to keep them alive differing strategies are required depending on the environment. Some levels are very open and yet others see you edging about around corridors and alleyways never quite sure of what may be just around the next corner.
The atmosphere is built up extremely well with excellent sound effects, plenty of gunfire and lots of shouting from your squad members and the enemy. And the whole thing is topped off with very good graphics. Overall this is an exceptional game in that it is something slightly different in the WWII shooter genre. And that, fellow gamers, is long overdue.
