If you only like shooters where you charge around blasting everything in sight then this is not the game for you. I hadn't played any Splinter Cell game before this but I'll definitely be trying others. The game involves you sneaking around in the shadows whilst trying not to attract the attention of the guards who wander around.
Having not played any SC game before it took me a little while to get into the general run of things. The controls are fairly easy to get to grips with, but it took a bit of practice before I could get around without attracting unwanted attention. The correct moves at the correct times are essential. Silently taking out guards without anyone else noticing is not always easy. Sometimes there are other ways around where you don't have to kill them and other time it may involve shooting out a light so that you can hide in the darkness left behind.
As you progress you will come across scenarios that also require extra moves or different strategies. You can't go through the game just using the same few techniques over and over. You have to think about the best way to move on at each point instead of just thinking that a certain move worked last time so it should work this time.
It is a very tense game and I found myself on the edge of my swivel chair quite a lot. It is however, a fairly slow game a far as action goes and may not appeal to everyone.
