This is a port of the Dreamcast game Skies of Arcadia, and is identical to said game except for an additional sidequest.
I'll start off by saying that I adore this game, although I was disappointed to find that virtually nothing had been changed from the original Dreamcast version. If you own this game for Dreamcast, don't buy it for Gamecube unless you love it enough to own the same game twice. Which certainly isn't unreasonable, given how excellent this game is.
The storyline is reasonably typical, ie. Save the world, blah blah blah, but is set apart by interesting environments and varied battles (nautical-style battles on your airship and traditional turn-based creature battles). The magic system is your standard element-based fare, but doesn't get too dull. You may find yourself using a White ring (to block random encounters) part way through the game, but resist! Avoiding battles can limit progress in sidequests, meaning you won't acheive 100% completion.
Very fun game, and a storyline that draws you in. Graphics aren't incredible, but they are virtually the same as in the Dreamcast release, so that is to be expected. I anticipate great things from the sequel... If it is ever released! It was announced when? 2003?
8/10. All in all, excellent. Loses one point because it's the same as the Dreamcast release... But it's still very worth revisiting.
