Donkey Konga follows on from the small number of dance/music games with an imaginative bongo controller which allows the player to drum and clap to the bongos rather than use the normal controller.
During gameplay, signs scroll along the screen and you have to drum and clap at the right time. For example,if a yellow circle appeared on the screen, you would have to hit the left bongo just as the circle scrolled over the target circle. For clapping, its the same thing but a different symbol. There are over 30 songs in the game, some fast and some slow, and there are even tunes from other games. The Super Smash Bros Melee and Zelda theme tunes are also in the game and playable songs.
Nintendo created something unusual but clever when they introduced Donkey Konga and the bongos and the one thing I dont like about it is the clap sensor.Sometimes,if you dont clap hard enough,it wont here it and you will lose your sequence. It can be frustrating if it causes you to lose a song(though to be honest the songs are pretty hard to lose)Im not a fan of the bongos but other gamers may be.But the good thing is you dont have to use the bongos. You can just stick with the gamecube controller.
Donkey Konga is an unusual and fun game to play but Im not sure if its for everybody. If you like all the latest pop songs(I dont)then definetely go for it.82%
