Brothers in Arms is a gritty and realistic WWII shooter. Its intensity is perhaps matched only by Call of Duty. You can control a squad of several troops. Their AI is pretty solid, and they respond well to your commands. Sometimes, they will charge into open spaces and get mowed down, but this does not happen frequently enough to be a problem. Their help is valuable, because the enemy AI in this game is at times brutal. Your German opponents are quite good at taking cover, throwing grenades, and working in groups. Expect to die a lot. Your objectives are always clearly stated, so there is very little confusion about where to go or what to do. The weapon selection is not that extensive; you have the standard types of guns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, etc. Tanks help you out from time to time, but you never actually control one. The sound effects are incredible. The game is based on the real-life experiences of an American regiment, so that lends it a lot of authenticity. Not the best war FPS out there, but remarkable nonetheless, especially considering the abundance of WWII shooters.
