This is THE multiplayer game for the Nintendo 64. In the late 90s there was a Bond culture for this game and of all the multiplayer games I probably have played this one more than any other.
The levels allow for experienced players to gain the upper hand (know the armor and best weapons) and the control is excellent.
This game termed the phrase "swivel" in that the c buttons were used to strafe while you still had complete control with the analog stick. Games that use this today have Goldeneye to thank.
The other superb aspect to this game in addition to the multiplayer is the method of unlocking cheats. I was driven by the pure challenge to unlock them all and that quest contains two levels which I will never forget.
The Aztec stage on 00 Agent was extremely difficult in that you had to gain precision sniping ability to avoid being shot while getting the fast time.
The Facility stage had a time to beat of about 1:45. Unlocking this cheat required memorization of every twist, turn, and enemy in order to fly through the level at top speed.
For these two reasons and for the stellar all-around technical aspects of the game, Goldeneye 007 is legendary.
