Beyond Good & Evil is a perfect example of the type of game that I personally LOVE to play. A little Zelda action here and a little MGS stealth bits there combined with some light Fatal Frame photography requirements make this gamer all happy.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, just like Psychonauts, this game was highly underrated at the cash register. It would have been pretty nice if Ubisoft had spent a LOT more money on advertising for this little gem. I've read at different sites that hopefully with Michael Ancel doing well with King Kong that maybe he'll have the budget to do a sequel!! This guy's fingers are crossed.
The graphics are done with a graphical style that just seems to meld into the whole gameplay style that you don't really notice sometimes because you're too immersed in what your next goal is to really pay attention. The pace can be a little slow at times but with enough time there's plenty of little secrets here and there for any intrepid gamer to find and feel a sense of accomplishment.
My, and just about everyone else's, one gripe about this game is the length. Just when it's getting really good you find out Jade's some.... I won't spoil it. Let's just say the ending absolutely BEGS for a sequel like nothing I've ever played before. Not only that but the final boss dude was pretty weak after you figured out his whole direction bending pattern thing.
Overall, I encourage EVERYONE to go out and buy this little piece of gameing goodness. If you liked ANY of the aforementioned games above then I think you'd really dig Beyond Good and Evil. And now that all you guys are rushing out to get this maybe they'll make a sequel......
