Short and sweet: This is the game that Masters of Orion 3 should have been. Absolutely fabulous.
The levels of difficulty are implemented very, very well, so that you can have fun even if you're not very good at the game yet.
The graphics are nothing short of amazing, and the ability to smoothly zoom in and out at will is amazing.
The waypoint system and governor system take a lot of the tedium out of the game, making it a drastic improvement over the MOO games.
Overall, one of the best strategy games I've played. Ever. (And yes, I love CIV 4, but this game is on a MUCH larger scale than CIV.)
