Command & Conquer is the father of Real-Time Strategy games, something some would not like to admit but is true none the less. That is why I was quite excited when I heard it was comming back. The game has alot of pro's and very few flaws.
The single player is quite lengthy as it comes with over 35 missions, many of which are quite fun indeed. Inbetween missions your screen will be graced with HD live-action cutscenes akin to C&C titles of old. The missions highlight the strengths of the teams and seem to prepare you for online battles. The skirmish also seems to do a decent job at preparing you for online as the AI can sometimes put up a challenge and is custimizable, with several personalities that adjust to you while you play so it will get harder if your winning and back off if your losing.
This all leads into the multi-player which is the reason you will be purchasing this game. The battlecast features, included VoiP, and youtube like online replay system make this game shine online where other RTS's fail.
Visually the game is stunning, its running on a constantly updated SAGE engine which EALA has used since Generals in their RTS Titles. The polish is definitely scene as the water, soft shadows, heat effects and plethora of explosions all come to life on your screen with little in terms of system requirements. Also, the load times are all sub-8 seconds, EALA has done a good job making the engine efficient and easy to run.
The only problem some might say the game has is it's speed, a normal online 1v1 match-up might take an average of 8 minutes. While 2v2,3v3, or 4v4 matches can take up to an hour, you can also play no-rush games where an invisible wall seperates the map so you can enjoy building defenses and seiging each other's base.
This game definitely deserves a 90%-95%... its awesome the job they've done bringing C&C back and it proves the series is certainly not dead.
