I have to start this off by saying that i am a massive fan of the console FPS. I got Killzone a couple of weeks after release. Although it is flawed in a few areas, i think the main problem is comparison. When people play, see it in action or talk about Killzone, it is alway to compare to what they think is a better title. I'm guilty of it too. After playing half life 2, i thought nothing can get better(the physics are amazing, they really shocked me by how realistic they are). But if you over look some of the minor flaws, you have quite a decent game.

Graphics - The graphics are really good. Crisp visuals and land scapes. Occasional slow down by the amount of on screen action, but it is forgiveable. I don't like the sniper scope though. It is quite hard to see and can really slow you down when your trying to get that all important shot. It's also awkward to move the sight around when zoomed in. The graphics help create an atmosphere of futuristic war.

Gameplay - Mentioning atmosphere again. The gameplay and graphics complement each other quite well. The weapons and scenarios are almost believable, as you'd imagine for a war in the future

I don't like the online multiplayer though. Not that its a bad game online, but the developers didn't do enough to stop cheating from action replay cartridges and similar products. I have been in rooms where there have been no cheats at all and it's been fantastic, but it is rare to find any. This puts me off considerably.

Sounds - Again, i'll mention atmosphere. The sounds help build what the visuals and gameplay create. However, as most people mentioned, the lack of vocab for the helghast while in game tends to wear a bit thin. The first few times I heard them shout "advance"! after that, it was annoying.

The characters are nothing really new. You get the main hero, Templar, A stealth assasain, a heavy gunner and a spy type. They are modelled really well in cut scenes and look quite realistic. You can relate to them, almost like a movie.

Overall - 75%

Not the best FPS i have played, but certainly not a bad game. In fact very far from it. If you can get it under £15 or rent, it's definately worth it. If you're buying this purely for online action, don't. Go for battlefield 2 which has the punkbuster software, which helps keep the play fair and even (unless you're bad at playing)
