Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is a great game for many reasons. Lots of action, hot swapping, many different weapons and vehicles, intense story line with the ability to play as different countries, and great replay ability.
The action in this game is great. Almost around every corner you turn there is an enemy waiting for you to take him down, whether it's with a knife for a silent death or a grenade or rocket to make his life a little more explosive. Although the game isn't all too difficult for someone with any FPS (first person shooter) experience it holds many hours of great fun.
A new feature that I am very fond of is the hot swap. It allows you to switch between soldiers mid-battle. One second you may need to be a sniper to take out that gunner on a chopper coming at you at full speed and then you have to switch you an assault unit to defend your position against a battalion of enemy troops. After that long battle at the front lines you'll need to switch to a support unit and heal all the injured soldiers back up to fighting strength. After that's done you'll need to go to that engineer to repair the tanks that helped hold the front.
The story line is great too. I don't want to say much about it because I don't want to spoil it for everyone who hasn't played the game yet. So let's talk about the great scoring system and replay ability. You are scored on how many points you get. You obtain points mainly by killing foes. You are also scored on how well you work with your teammates. You can either be a loner, buddy, or team player. Time also plays a factor. There are two times you need to beat to earn more stars. Accuracy is another thing you have to be careful about while in battle. At the end of the mission, you have a target accuracy that you have to beat in order to get a star. The last thing that you have on the score screen is a way to lose stars. If you lose too many soldiers you can lose up to two stars. You can gain up to ten stars per mission. You can also gain stars by completing challenge missions, getting medals, and doing field tasks. The purpose of stars is that as you gain stars, you go up in rank. You start as a Private and can work your way all the way through the ranks and become a General. But you'll have to replay a lot to get that high. When I beat the game I was a 2nd Lieutenant. That's about eight or so away from General.
Well, I hope you all enjoy the great game Battlefield 2: Modern Combat as much as I did.
