After a very long wait and a few delays, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been released. I must say, it was worth the wait. The graphics are spectacular, the voice acting wonderful, and the scope of the world, marvelous.
The graphics. They're not the most detailed graphics I've ever seen, but for the sheer amount of variation and overall quality, they come close. The new face engine gives NPC's a distinct look, something they never had in previous games. Of course, it takes SERIOUS hardware to run the game at its best settings, but that's a good thing. PC hardware changes, and it's good to know that a year or two down the road, I'll be able to upgrade my computer and get a better looking game.
The full voice acting for every character is wonderful. It adds so much life to the world! That, coupled with Radiant AI makes them feel alive! I was in the market district of the Imperial city, and it hit the time where all the shops close. The shop keepers all left at about the same time to go home, stopping and talking along the way. It was a rush hour!
Finally, let me say something about bugs. People have been talking about glitches, etc. But, I have had only one, wierd, random crash from another piece of software trying to grab my attention. Compared to Morrowind, let alone Daggerfall, that's wonderful.
In closing, the game is tons of fun, even if you could care less about the main quest. I would pay for just the mere experience of running around a virtual Tamriel.
