Finally, a respectable RPG...well, action/RPG...for the Gamecube. Tales of Symphonia is one of the best games I have had the fortune of playing.
Though the story is cliche...and somewhat dull at times, the battle-system is unique and addicting. You can customize your party in an amazing number of ways...and did I mention the game is long...very long. It'll take you a good 50+ hours to complete the game...even if you know what you're doing, while neglecting the side-quests.
The visuals are...urm...charming. The cell-shaded graphics make for a nice tone. Also, the soundtrack really gets you in the mood to battle and explore...if you know what I mean (doubtful).
Excuse my lack of transition as I move from point to point.
Tales of Symphonia is not perfect, though. Sometimes the game really feels like it's dragging. Also, the characters often appear sorta...urm...monotone. You get into their past, but they all feel like strangers to you, even at the end.
Mild complaints, though. Tales of Symphonia is great for RPG-starved Gamecube owners. In fact, it is great for any RPG fan. I highly recommend it.
