A new FPS has crawled its way onto the PC, bringing some F.E.A.R with it. Oh what a bad joke, but all bad jokes aside F.E.A.R for the PC is FPS bliss. The game could suffice as an FPS/Horror game, because in the midst of battle you will find your self-gripping the mouse extra tight for the game's over all scare factor. You are a new recruit for the special force team F.E.A.R (First Encounter Assault Recon team). You and your team has been called on a mission to investigate some bizarre killings. But there is much more to the killings than what it seems, a crazy killer and a freaky girl with a past.

Like said above F.E.A.R is scary. As you walk through the levels you will experience tons of unexplainable paranormal activity that will make frantically look around trying to locate where it's all coming from. Things will random explode, things will break, bodies will fall out of no where, light will flicker and voices will be heard. To top it all off a creepy girl named Alma is following you as well, she will come out of nowhere at times bringing the tension up a notch. Some points when your going down a long stretch of hallway she will make your head spin with blood filled ceilings and creepy flashbacks. Besides the whole fright fest that occurs throughout the game F.E.A.R is a good FPS. There are tons of weapons at your disposal, lots of action, and lots of blood. The games AI is something to marvel at as well, the AI in this game is scary. Making every firefight a challenge, they will flank you, throw grenades, call for backup and outnumber you, and duck and hide when needed. The levels are pretty cool too, there are lots of cool little details to them like blood smeared walls and tiles, broken glass, un-answered phones that you can listen to the messages on and other things of the sort. All in all it's really the atmosphere that draws you into F.E.A.R.

Even as detailed as the levels are they get old really quick. You will traverse through familiar hallways and offices and walk along many catwalks trough the game. The puzzles are you basic find switch flip switch stuff. Sometimes you will get lost and do a far amount of backtracking to find the right door to go through. Also sometimes the game isn't really clear on where you should go next leaving to wander around aimlessly until you notice that one air shaft you can blow away or that one pipe you can jump on to get the next room.

In the end F.E.A.R is a quality first person shooter, the story is interesting, provides some good scares and tension, lots of weapons, explosions the normal FPS stuff and good AI. It's few misses like familiar levels and sometimes no sense of direction on where you should go hold it back just a little.
