The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II brings you into the world of the lord of the ring. As the fellowship battles to destroy the one ring Elrond focuses on defending his city of rivendell and the dwarves focus on thier stronghold of erebor.

This game allows you to choose between good and evil. as good you play as the elves and dwarves with a small mixture of men. as evil you control the orcs of mordor and goblins.

each side has its own unique heroes( units with powerful abilities) that progress and get stronger as they level up. EA games managed to get clearance to use both the books and the movies meaning that some readers may recognize characters from the books such as gorkil the goblin king, while also suprising those new to the series. The battle for middle earth 2 takes place mainly in the north covering what the movies did not.

Gamplay works much like the popular microsoft series Age of empires allowing you to create battalions of units collect resources build and research upgrades for units. The game also follows a rock paper scissors law meaning that particular units such as pikeman are best against calvary while swordsmen counter pikemen. The game includes many units and heroes that you may recognize such as the ent treebeard.

Those loyal to the series or those who wish to immerse themselves into the world of the Lord of the Rings will definetely find this game a good buy.
