This is one of the games I vividly remember from my childhood and, along with Super Mario and Mortal Kombat II, is one of the main reasons I am still addicted to computer games now.
DKC2 is a brilliant side-scrolling platform game, with a great amount of comedy thrown in for good effect.
For it's time, the game has great graphics, and I can still play it to this day, while with other games from the era I am forced to cringe at the awful graphics used.
compared to the original, I see DKC2 as a great improvement. Dixie, the female chimp, is more interesting to play as than the big fella DK himself was, as her hair attacks and floating provided a great new aspect to the game instead of the brute force that DK used in the original game.
It took a good while to finish, had great graphics for its time and overall, was great fun to play. The peak of gaming on a nintendo system in my opinion.
