Well this is one of the greatest games on the PS2 I have ever played. I know most of you thought well it's a Disney RPG and would be a stupid idea. I thought the same thing. But I actually played the game and realized how great this game is.
Story
Most people think the story is kiddy (well the people who haven't played the game) but in fact
The game is about a boy named Sora, who lives on an island with his friends Kairi and Riku. They all want to explore many worlds out there. But One day the island is attacked by a monstrous force known as the Heartless. Sora is granted the power over a mythical weapon known as the Keyblade. But then his friends vanish into the darkness. He then is found on an other world where he meets Doland and Goofy. Over the course of the game, he learns about the mysterious Keyblade, heartless, darkness, other worlds, and the heart. You will encounter a bunch of final fantasy characters which is interesting...but they really don't play a big factor in the story.
Gameplay
Well the gameplay is superb. This is a action RPG with a lot of adventure elements and is in real time. It has a lot of RPG elements like you gain levels with experience, learn spells and special abilities. You can into the town and shop for equipment and items. Finding good skill combinations is one of the fun parts of the game. It can take a little getting used to with the controls and menu. When you fight it's really nice because you're controlling yourself in the battle; you move, jump and attack. Usually Goofy and Donald will aid you in battle. You can only control the main character Sora. But Goofy and Donald don't just stand there doing nothing like in many other games...where the cpu controls your teammates. You travel throughout Disney worlds in a gummi ship. I found the traveling in the gummi ships boring and pointless. You will pretty much travel to many Disney worlds. You will meet familiar Disney characters and also get involved into many different quests, which take some exploration and guesswork. There are a bunch of optional side quests while some can be fun other times they might get frustrating and boring. The camera can get confusing and frustrating, sometimes it will just whip around and confuse you. It can get really annoying when your trying to make hard jumps and such things, but it wont make a big difference. Disney characters are summons in this game but they really don't play a big role in the game and you may find yourself not even using them. The game has decent length...should take about 25 - 30 hours without any side quests.
Graphics
Well this is a square enix game so you know what to expect, great graphics. The environment are done very well, and an amazing amount of detail is included, and the animation is almost always smooth.
Sound
The music on this game is very well done. In each world, the background music, battle music, and other music is all different. Which is really nice because you get the feel of the world more. The Voice acting is pretty good and there's not really any annoying sounds in the game.
Summary
Its pretty much one of the best Action RPGs out there. Don't get put off by the Disney stuff and give the game a chance. I would defiantly recommended buying this game especially since it's a greatest hit now which sell for $20. If you own a PS2, this should defiantly be in your collection
