If you have not beaten this game yet, there may be some spoilers in my review that may……spoil the game for you and would advise you to not read certain areas unless you are comfortable about it. I will try to not give too much away but when I talk about the story I may have to give some things away and would advise you to not look at that section. I will point out in the beginning of my paragraph for that certain area if I believe there will be some spoilers, so read with caution.

So, how does one go by reviewing a game like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess? Do they only base the game on how the game should look? Do they go by how it sounds? Do they somewhat down the game because of the fact that this is a Gamecube game ported to the Wii with tacked on controls?

I believe that this game should be reviewed on all of these levels and be able to analyze the game to the point where you are getting very deep into why the game seems to have what it has. The reason why I bought Zelda was to get a new way to play the game, and I got it with Twilight Princess. From the new control scheme, I was able to have an experience that no other console on the market today could give. With a story that is somewhat similar to a previous Zelda game and some very nice visuals wrapped up in one package, I think that this game deserves a proper review.

So basically getting back to the game play, I will be covering how the controls work with this particular game and how it compares to playing past Zelda games. The wiimote and nun chuck just feel superb in your hands while playing this game. I was a bit skeptical on these new controllers, but actually getting into the game and being able to use my sword and to aim with my wiimote just felt great and that it works so much better than using a controller. Although the game does not react to all of your exact motions (like swinging your sword a certain way with a certain motion), it feels a lot more comfortable to play the game like this and it makes this game so much easier too.

In the next paragraph and the little one after, there may be spoilers. You have been warned.

Talking about the game play is just one major factor about this game that makes it such a great game, but I would also like to talk about the story and how I believe they got the idea to build on a similar story line from a past Zelda game. If you advance in this game for an unnumbered amount of hours, you will come across a time where you enter the Twilight Realm and transform into a wolf. Don't get me wrong, the Twilight Realm looks very dark and freaky, but it also made me remember from entering that realm when you would warp from the Light world to the Dark world for the first time and you would turn into a pink bunny form in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. To me, that showed that they may have had a hard time coming up with a more evolutionary storyline and wound up taking a previous concept and placing it into a new game.

Later on while playing the game for a few more hours, I realized that the story was in fact a lot different from that game but the concept of warping from two different worlds would still be there. I will not get into detail of what you have to accomplish or what happens to whom in the story, but let's just say that it is pretty lengthy.

Moving onto the graphics, basically what everybody is basing their games on now, which look really good despite the fact that this is a Gamecube game. Taking that into consideration, I was not prepared to down the game from having that in my mind that this was for it, but in fact to see that it really is the best looking Zelda to come out for this generation and last generation as well. The only thing that comes into play is some low resolution textures that I seem to not get myself around because I love the Zelda franchise. Sometimes when it has a close up on someone or something, there are some textures that are somewhat blurred and do not look good at all, but the rest of that game is nothing short of spectacular, but not that in the range of unbelievable.

Now onward to the game's sound and music, this is basically all of the classic Zelda themes remixed into much cleaner versions. I have to talk about this because it is a little issue that I know will be corrected in the next Zelda, the games music is still based on MIDI and is not orchestrated, which seems that they were not going to push the game over the top by making everything great, which seems to bring it down. Also, in this day and age, we should be able to hear the characters speak, you occasionally hear a word here or there but mostly noises and I'm not saying that reading text is bad for us, but they could have text and voice acting to make the game really stand out as what all the hype was about being the best Zelda ever. It is still great to hear the old themes and to make you feel like you were when you played that certain Zelda title, but without producing orchestrated music and voice acting seems that they are having trouble evolving Zelda into what it could be.

Reading this review may have given you everything that you need to know before you pick up this game, maybe it has not and could have been better but what can you really say unless you go play this game yourself? This review is from a person who stood in line for 12 and a half hours in the freezing cold on launch day to get this and is basically telling you if it was worth it or not. I believe based on my review that Zelda is a fantastic game that does play a whole lot better on the Wii than I think it will on the Gamecube. For those who played the game already, most of you could agree with me on most of the things I've stated in my review, for those who are still on the fence about getting either the Gamecube or Wii version, both of the versions will only let you down in a few selected areas but I believe that the Wii version will have you experience Zelda the way that it should be.
