The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a good game, no doubt about that, but there's just something about this game that makes it seem different from other Zeldas. Half of the gameplay is fresh and new, and the other half is boring, repetitive, and stuck in the past. Twilight Princess features some nice music and artwork, but it just doesn't make up for all that the game is missing. Think of it this way: when you create sequels to games, you improve everything that was in the last game, right? Well, that just doesn't seem to be what they did in Twilight Princess. Instead of updating old features, they kept the old features in and added some new features. For example, the Wii remote has a built-in speaker that plays certain sound effects. The remote plays all of the standard sounds and jingles that you would expect from the series, but the audio playing from your TV speakers is fresh and new. It's like they updated the game, but kept all the old sound effects and stuffed them into the remote. The remote's audio just doesn't match the normal audio. There are many similar problems in the actual gameplay, too. They kept all of the same old items (boomerang, Hookshot, etc.), but upgraded them a bit. The new tools lead to some clever puzzles, but it's still just the same old thing. The game would have been much better if they made everything new, and not just bits of pieces of it. Instead of feeling like a brand new Zelda, Twilight Princess feels like a remake of a game that was never created in the first place.
