Hmm, I truly don't know from what perspective to see Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions. For Xbox 360 it is a decent game that is good enough to be quite popular but I don't believe it can truly compete with Gears of War, a game that has won the hearts of so many Xbox fans.
First, graphics. The graphics on Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions are excellent, just what you would expect from Xbox 360. The enviroments are detailed and well-designed and the models are very detailed and they really give you an insight into the world.
Now sound. Well the sound on the game is respectable, if not better. The sounds of guns firing and the screeching of the Akrid are good as well as the voices over the radio but I have heard much better sounds on other games and it could have been better on this one.
Gameplay. Well, the gameplay on Lost Planet is average, or maybe slightly better than average I suppose but it isn't anything special. The controls are a bit awkward sometimes because it is a 3rd person shooter and the camera can go funny occasionally but other than that the gameplay is good. The 3rd person view meaning that you can dodge and move out the way easier and watching your character using the grapnel is fun.
The storyline is perhaps what lets this game down. It's just a bit lame and there might as well not be a storyline. Infact I don't believe the game would be any worse if they hadn't included a storyline, it would be just the same because you would still find an excuse to go round killing Akrid and enemy snow pirates.
On Xbox Live is where the game shines. Although not as good as say Call of Duty 3 it is still good fun to play online as fighting against 15 other people with an assortment of high-tech weapons and robots is always fun, no matter how you see it.
