I have never played any of the Virtua series, but I must say that the control is very responsive and quick and seems very intuitive (even though there are a huge library of moves).
This seems to be a PURE fighting game! And very DEEP...So deep that I sometimes get a headache trying to think of the next move.
The Kumite mode is very nice, it gives me a reason to play (that is not available in Tekken Tag). In reference to Tekken...VF4 just feels so much more clean! The controls and responsiveness in VF4 seem top-notch and right at home with the dual shock. As I played this at first, all I could think was wow...fast!
Graphics are brilliant in areas (water, deforming snow, sand, somewhat the lighting...although that is nothing new, and probably the best feature is the character model details and animation). But yet, I do notice the PS2 "jaggies"(on some stages more than others). But I guess this is just common ground on the PS2. Annoying, ya a little....but no big deal, I guess.
This game is not for the faint-hearted! It is tough as nails to master and takes practice. Because of this it can get a little dull, because taking on a new character is SO demanding!
