A great launch title, already destined to be one of the classics of the PS2 repertoire. Essentially Gran Turismo 2 cranked up to 11, GT3: A-Spec had already gained mainstream attention as one of the first games Sony previewed for the Playstation 2. And with the cleanest, fastest graphics I've ever seen in a racing sim, it doesn't disappoint.
While it does go far and above GT2 in terms of visuals, it does have a couple of sore points. For one, while more than 150 cars is quite a bit, I couldn't help but notice that some manufacturers offerings were rather limited (BMW, Audi, Chrysler), or missing altogether (Pontiac, Ferrari, Lamborghini). And frankly, I don't care for half of the music that accompanies the racing action. Once the PS2 HD is released, Sony would be wise to adopt the XBox's tactic of allowing user-ripped music for in-game soundtracks.
But those complaints are rather small when seeing this game in action, going full-throttle, battling around corners for first place. Have no doubt, this game is THE reason I bought my PS2.
