Naughty Dog has managed to weave a fun, visually interesting and entertaining platformer adventure in the form of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy! I've always been a fan of platform-adventures (i.e. Crash Bandicoot, Sly Cooper) and having heard great things about Jak and Daxter, I was eager to give it a spin.
Jak and Daxter presents a very open world with very few load times that sees you playing in a number of environments from the beaches on the opening "world" to volcanic caves and a snowy mountain region later in the game. There are a number of mini-games (i.e. fishing) that are fun and the variety of actions you must take in the game itself are all well implemented and enjoyable as well.
The graphics are great for an early PS2 title and I particularly liked the daily day/night cycles in the game. They add variety to each level and make it feel very alive. Jak and Daxter themselves are very entertaining as they perform a number of dance moves with each power cell (the main acquisition in the game) that you manage to capture.
All in all I enjoyed this title from beginning to end and very much look forward to playing the next game in the series!
