To be honest, I'm one of those rare people who isn't a big fan of Squaresoft games. I really didn't enjoy the Final Fantasy saga and found them to be more of a repetition of random battles than anything else. However, I must admit that I was quite pleasantly surprised by Vagrant Story. A solid (albeit sometimes confusing) plot, good graphics, solid battle engine and excellent soundtrack make this game one of the best RPGs going! It's a long affair, but one that ends up very satisfying and even the boss battles that can get frustrating at times can be mastered if the right approach is taken. I'm hoping for a sequel for this game on the PS2! Make sure you pick it up if you haven't played it already! 8.4/10
