The long awaited sequel to Mario 64 is finally here, and despite some odd twists to the Mario formula, it doesn't disappoint. While keeping the same gameplay engine as Mario 64, a new gameplay dynamic has been added: a water pump. Using this pump for everything from killing enemies to howvering in midair, the game becomes very distinct from it's predecessors. At it's core, it's still Mario, and it plays just like you'd expect it to. Great graphics, amazingly responsive controls, and lots of side missions. Surprisingly, they manage to keep it fresh even though you are mostly just spraying things with water. My only gripes are that the camera does not always behave the way it should, and that they make you go for all the Shines in a level in order, forcing you to go for a specific one. However, these minor complaints aside, this is a classic, and if you like Mario at all, a definite must have.
