The 4th installment of Namco's Ace Combat series is possibly the finest yet.
The gameplay is true to previous AC's with a more intriguing plot. Plenty of missions and multiplayer to boot. The planes handle appropriately and there are plenty of various mission and planes to be had. Very solid effort for Namco's first AC on PS2.
Graphics of course are beautiful. Amazing detail of the crafts and explosions all at a solid 60fps. Beautiful lighting and self-shadowing on the planes make it 'photo-realistic at times. The textures are also well done except when real close to the ground, when they tend to blur a bit. But in the air, everything is gorgeus.
Sound is well done. Good narrative and voice acting are present. Engines and explosions sound as real as ever.
In the end, AC4 represents the finest of the AC series with planty of missions, tweaked gameplay, realsitc graphics and a good multiplayer effort. With solid replay value. Definitely worth buying if youre a fan of Flight sims or of the AC series. Excellent job Namco.
