Wish I could give two votes here. As a single player experience it would get a 3, it's actually very boring alone. BUT as a multiplayer then it is so close to superb it hurts thus the 8.
Firstly it is a great multiplayer game which is huge fun, well balanced, the vehicles are excellantly implimented the jeep physics are a laugh, good team spirits (atleast at the moment) as it does a great job of bringing out a collective will to win even though you can spend alot of your time isolated on the map. And here is the biggest problem, many of the maps are so large that if you don't spawn next to a vehicle then you can be walking for a couple of minutes before you see anyone. For an online FPS that is alot of time staring at the horizon. A little extra time developing the maps would have helped alot.
Secondly system requirements are unreasonably high and if you don't have a broadband connection then this game could be frustrating.
Lastly as with all PC games, bugs, why do we put up with this, what other purchase do you make is only 80% finished with the other 10% being fixed 4 months later in a "patch" and the last 10% comming to you in the form of an add on that cost the same as the initial purchase, doubling the cost. Why do we put up with this? Bugs like unusable small arms weapons, flag points that refuse to be captured under any circumstances and getting kicked of the server when a new map is loading.
But, these gripes aside it's a good game, a good start to 64 player 2 team mayhem, which you know will be bettered 6 months down the line, but can you wait?
