Mario is still the pinnicle of gameplay heaven. If you like platform games then you already have this, if you hate this type of game then this is the game with the best shot of converting you. Mario purists maybe slightly disappointed with the over relience on the Fludd device but personally I congratulate Shig and Nintendo on having the courage to keep playing with their flagship character and the Fludd IS great to use.
No other 3D game gives the same sense of control over your character (except maybe Mario64 granted) even a Mario veteran will still have a sense of mastering his many moves and thats where most the pleasure is for me. This game rewards skill and cheeky experimentation with a cry of joy and a sugar coated slap on the back.
Damn it's fun!
