This game was a mixed bag for me.
At first, it was a huge dissapointment (compared to the past 2 games). Now, a few months later, its actually good, although not as much as the past versions.
The terrain editor for one was hyped alot by Maxis, and by the media. I hated it. Its impossible to create small rivers etc.
The game now features a interface showing all the cities in the region. A plus to this is that you can build your cities together and link them up. A negative is the lack of a computer controlled city. the city sizes come in about 3 choices.
for veterans of the series, here are a few key points:
Negative:
1) Archipelagos (spel?) from Sim City 2000 are still missing
2) lack of a computer controlled city
3) no start up cities (Maxis created)
4) No time technology...that is, theres no option to start in 1900 for example....everything is unlocked by population, not time
5) No pie charts!
6) requires patches for basic play
Pro:
1) Easy graph interface to know what your city needs, and where its needed
2)Wasy to grow....but note you have to completely change your strategy from the last game (a small city is impossible)
3)Lots of viarity in items and buildings
4) nice graphics
5)Same time tested game play.
Although its not as good as Sim City 3000, now that i have them both, Im not going back.
