Unkept promises about the new quest engine. really just more of the same old tricks, used in a slightly different way.
Unbalanced risk reward when it was first released, some dungeons have uber loot of yard trash, others have booby prize off boss mobs what up wit dat :)?
I had a lot more fun when Kunark opened.
SOV is just more of the same, but no new level cap, no new playable race. A few new spells, and new planes but even the planes had serious balance issues at release (which have since been changed)
SOV scared away a LOT of casual players. The difficulty is way higher than ROK or the old norrath. It is easy to get lost, and easy to die somewhere and lose your corpse forever.
Dragons camp out at druid gates, Giants that see through invis will kill you in seconds, even if you are lvl 55+ if you are not careful, making corpse retrieval a 6 hour affair
I played many of the zones in SOV, and some of them were quite fun, but overall it really wasnt worth my time.
After raiding a few places for 12 hours and getting booby prize loot I found my interest waning.
It also didnt help that all my planar gear and kunark gear became out of date and almost useless once SOV opened.
I really didnt have the time for the uber quests that require 5 hour/day camps and 16+ lvl 55+ friends
Luclin looks much more promising , but I dont think I will be addicted long enough to purchase luclin, SOV uber zones have finally cured me
My girlfriend is happy at least , sad to leave my friends behind in EQ, but SOV just isnt any fun
Uber guilds will love it though, tons of insanely hard high lvl mobs that require lvl 60 player filled raids and lots of try and die tactics
