The year 2003, the place my home, destination greatness.  That's my epic beginning for one of the greatest games of all time.  Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution raises the bar for everything, from graphics to gameplay to innovation.  I thought VF4 was the end all to fighting games and that they couldn't get any better but along comes my choice for 2003 GOTY VF4: Evolution and it blows me away from the very first time I play it.

First thing that anyone can notice about it is that the graphics have been smoothed out and have been given some more texture and they look a lot better now than they did before which is always a good thing, I mean no one wants a game that hurts their eyes, there's no purpose to playing it because you'll only end up blind right? But along with the graphics (which includes the presentation and all the options) but you'll probabaly play a quick game through the arcade mode and realize that there's the VF 10th Anniversary game, which is nothing but a dumbed down version of Evo with worse graphics, physics, and less moves but it's still fun nonetheless.

Second thing that you'll notice is that Sega decided to add two new characters to the game, Goh and Brad, and while neither is anything special they both bring about their own unique fighting styles that can be appreciated by fans everywhere.  ALthough I have only played with Goh in quest mode I have used Brad and for some reason he just wasn't my style and didn't seem to fit in with the game for some reason, but whatever it's not that big of a deal is it?

The most important addition is the use of human AI from the best of the best VF players around the world.  This makes for a much more difficult game but I'm almost 100% sure that they dumbed down some of the players because some of them are just way to easy and fight like a computer AI set to easy difficulty.  As you progress you will fight some insanely hard opponents who seem to block everything you do no matter what and it almost seems impossible, but of course as we all know that's what training mode is for and this time around it's been upgraded slightly to be more beginner friendly, giving VF n00bs a chance to learn the game and quickly adjust and beat their veteran peers.

All in all the new quest mode is reason enough to buy the game, instead of the old style of going through fighting everyone arcade mode style, you now challenge players at arcades to games and try to complete certain tasks to unlock the arcade tournament where you have to finish in the top three to move on to the next arcade.  This is quite possibly the greatest game I've ever played and it is definately one that should be enjoyed by everyone even if you have to go out and steal it, but remember I didn't directly tell you to steal it so when you get arrested it's not my fault.  GO GET THIS GAME NOW!
