It's time! It's, it's, Vice city time! Finally, the return of the king, GTA: Vice City, has arrived. If you're looking for everything you hoped for from the previous GTA game, look no further.
The graphics, stellar. Everything looks better than GTA 3. Your character's shirt flaps in the wind while cruising the strip on your bike, whether it be a harley, a crotch rocket, a dirt bike, or everyone's favourite, the Faggio Scooter (which all look impressive). The cars look stunning, and the damage effects look twice as good as the previous. The environments are awesome, as are the interiors of the numerous buildings you can enter. The rain drops hitting your TV screen are a nice touch, as is the splat of blood when carving someone up with a chainsaw. Yeah, it sounds sadistic, and is.
The gameplay is great, barring the few glitches. We all know that the bikes are awesome and the physics of the crashes are done great. We also all know how stellar the game plays and the variety of melee and arsenal of weapons you can get. I'll just state the few glitches and then move on, because you don't want to read how hammering someone's head in with a hammer is so fun and how it sounds so life like. The glitches: mysterious shots through wall, the enemy sometimes can shoot you through a walls, which can frustrate the heck out of you. The poor AI of characters, the detection may almost make you want to cry when you see someone you're escorting get stuck to a wall running into it or not knowing how to enter a vehicle. There's also an annoying health stealing glitch that mysteriously takes about 4 health points from you when you run over a bump or crack in the road. Oh well, every game has its glitches, and its not like these ones are here constantly. You're still going to have a blast, and I'm still going to give this game a ten.
The Replay value is amazing. In this addition of GTA, you can buy business like Strip Clubs, Used Car lots and Taxi Cabs. A majority of businesses you buy are just fronts to drug trafficing and other illegal activities. The missions alone are well worth the game, as was the case in GTA 3, however, the fact that you can now buy businesses, fly helicopters and planes, and ride some bikes, make this game a must for any PS2 owner. Overall, if you want a good time, pick this game up, and you've got a good time.
