Fighting game... With pointy things! Soul Calibur is the sequal to Soul Edge, the innovative 3-D fighting game where the characters use weapons more often then fists. The story fallows a pair of swords of emence evil power called the soul edge that was distroyed in the last game, The smaller of the swords being distroyed and the larger getting picked up by a knight who changes into Nightmare, an armored killer with the Soul edge. You play as one of the many characters our to get the blade, for good or bad motives depending on each person. The fighting system is somewhat similar to Tekken, though rather then left and right punches and kicks, you can attack virticly, horizontal, or with a kick/brawl attack. Each character has a fighting style that suits them, Voldo is a close ranged fighter who is good for his un-orthidox moves, while Nightmare uses the huge Soul Edge for strong, long ranged attacks. The ring system is evident here, fall out of the ring and you lose the match. I did not find many flaws other then how the mission mode can get kind of repetitive and ungodly hard. The music is good and the levels are great for the DC, it even has a opening-editor that you can toy with. Over all I could only see very few flaws that did not make the game all that bad, but its kind of old so it could use a revamping or a sequal, which is actualy coming out soon. Probably cheep as hell by now, so grab a copy when you can!
