For those of you as old as I am, you remember the very old Contra game that first came out on the original Nintendo system. This game takes place some years after the Super Nintendo sequal to the original game, the Main character inprisoned for the suspected death of his partner (the second player character) and is revived when Red Hawk again revives to take over the world. The game fallows along the same 2-D fighting style, but now with 3-D graphics and high speed action. The powerups have been replaced with 3 different style attacks; machinegun, Flamethrower, and Gernade, each also having their own charged attack like fragment bomes, charged blast, and ect... One down side I think is the confusing assortment of buttons, making it hard to know all the different buttons when you still may be used to the jump-and-shoot style of the first contra games. The monsters are a real trip, the basic enemys a bunch of wusses until you get to the bosses, extreamly hard and sick looking as the traditinal Contra style. There are even some old faces showing up again, like the wall fort from the first game, and the turtle monster from the Super nintendo version. The game is also a little short, but dont expect it to be too easy. A good fast moving shooter game that is worth trying.
