Yet anouther Gundam game...  and if you are a fan of the series like I am, that is not a bad thing.  This game focuses on one of the bad things of the first PS2 gundam title, while that game was played only on the ground, this one is played only in space.  It takes some of the good points of the last Gundam game's (which was actually made by Capcom, not Bandai) space battle machanics.  I have to admit, if you have battled in one space location, you have battled in them all.  The locations only vary in the backgrounds and how much debris is floating around.  The game has a few solid selling points.  For one, the game sports over an hour of actual redone animation from the Original Gundam series, 0083, and the various Gundam side-stories that were never shown in the States.  Another selling point is the fact that there are over 70 units to pilot.  You have an ample selection of mobile suits, aircraft, and mobile armors from the original 0079 story, but you also have a good amount from 0083, the Gundam side-stories, and even some original mobile suits made just for the game.  It even has Gundams from Gundam Seed, G Gundam, and Gundam Wing Endless Waltz for use in the Vs.  Mode.  The game lets you play various game modes, sucha as the Gundam with the White base, as the pilot of the Gundam unit 5 in the "Made just for the game" campaign , play as Char, The Black Tri Star, Kou (from 0083)and many more pilots in the ace pilot mode, make your own pilots in the mission mode to use in Vs.  Mode, and then there is of course the VS.  mode.  Playing the various modes unlocks suits, craft, and armor to use later.  Making pilots in the mission mode consists of you giving them a face, name, and voice, then playing over 8 missions of your chosing.  Completing missions raises your rank and gathers Xp that can be used to raise stats like shooting and mobility and can also get you special skills like Newtype and Sharpshooting.  Overall the controls are fairly responsive, a great improvement on the first two Gundam games, and the mobile suit collecting and pilot making increases the replay value. However, the lack of a sheild button, sometimes shoddy lock on feature, and insane difficulty level in some levels drag the game down slightly.  This is a must have for any gundam fan.
