Ok, I must be the last guy in the world with a PC to get this game. Its the best RPG I have gotten to play so far. The story is not really worth mentioning, you are simply a prisoner of the empire released to work for an underground spy force on the newly aquired imperial island nation of Morrowind. You pick your character race and class, class choice can be done simply by picking one, answering questions and getting assigned one pending the results, or simply create a custom one. What makes the game so good is many very important aspects. Like what makes Massive multiplayer games so popular, the massive amount of area you can cover on foot is apparent. You are literally on an island nation, not just some dinky island. Another point is the fact that the gameplay is really free form. You don't have to do the main quests, you can just make a living doing what ever you feel like doing. Nearly everything can be picked up and sold somewhere. If you are a thief or a rogue and feel like being evil, you can get some scratch pick pocketing (if you are REALLY good at it and good at running from the guards if caught) or sneaking around houses and grabbing glasses, pots, cups, and silverware to sell for a few extra gold. If you are really feeling evil, you can kill someone on the street and strip them of everything they own, but expect the guards to come and they are not as easy to knock off as some commoner with bare knuckles. But if you don't want people to interfere with your blind rage, simply bump someone off in the privacy of their own home, which then becomes anouther safe house for you. You don't have to be evil though, and you will be liked more if you don't whack everyone you see. The level system is different from most games, another good point. You don't get experience from fighting monsters, instead, you gain levels by raising skills. The reason I liked this game the most is that, like ALL games should be, your skills increase when you use them. As you get hit, your armor skill increases and so does your shield skill if you have a sheild. Use your weapon and increase the skill. Unlock locks and increase your lock breaking skill, use magic alot and eventually the type you use will increase that skill, and so forth. When you raise enough skill levels, your levels go up as well, letting you increase your base stats like strength and speed. The game does not boast to much in terms of armor and weapons, but adding various enchantments to them can increase the variables. The game also sports a good armor system, and even clothes you can wear over or under the armor to gain favor with others depending on what you wear. This game is what all RPG's should be, and its a shame that its only avalable for the Xbox console and for none of the others. I dont mind having it on PC too much but My PC has a hard time keeping up with the graphics and causes chopy slow downs a lot. Other games need to take a look at this one and start making games that at least have one thing similar with this one.
