Welcome, come one, come all to the days of Old School!  It is the early to mid 80's, the arcade is the haven of all of those who shun the light of the sun and perfer to bask in the glow of the arcade cabinate screen.  Its time to relive your childhood with Midway Arcade Treasures.  This game is a collection of many other games, 24 games to be exact.  The games are mostly made by the Williams company, which became Midway later on in the game if you know your arcade history.  The games consist of well known favorates like Paperboy, Smash TV, SiniStar, Robotron 2084, Spyhunter, Gauntlet, Rampage, Defender 1 and 2, and Joust 1 and 2.  The game also includes lesser known classics like Road Blaster, 780o, Marble Madness, Klax, and Rampart.  The game also has a never released title based off of Animal house, SPLAT!  All of these titles come with changable settings and controls.  The games also have a special section on history.  Though the content changes depending on game, some games have interviews with the creaters, trivia, pictures of cabinates, promos, and manuals, and historic reports on develupments and the game life of the titles.  Games like Sinistar, Joust, and Robotron have special interviews with the game makers that show special bugs and glitches that the games had that where used as the well known cheats of the day, including the cheat on how to defeat the undefeatable flying dinosaur from Joust.  Though the games are great since they have been directly ripped from their arcade cabinates to your PS2, this can be a bad thing.  In games like Spyhunter and Road Blaster, you have to use the left analog stick as a steering wheel and the right analog stick as a gas pedel.  This does not really make it easy on you when you are trying to steer and suddenly the slightist tap on the left analog stick sends you screaming headlong to the left or right.  But the direct conversion allows for infinate continues on some games like Smash TV and Gauntlet for those of us who blew a compleat allowence of quarters for 15 minutes of meat grinder play on these quarter eaters.  It also allows for multi player, up to 4 players for those who have special addaptors.  Overall, the greatest pull for this game is the price of 19.99, making it more then worth the buy, but some will still just want to rent this game.  A must have for anyone who has a love for the arcade classics.
